Juergen Puetter, President

BC Wind was founded in December 2005 by Juergen with the goal of providing British Columbia with a clean, alternative, multi-purpose fuel to help mitigate global warming and enhance air quality. Juergen has a long history of converting technological innovations into successful businesses, including Bionaire (air purification), Hydroxyl (water purification), and Aeolis Wind (wind power). Recognizing Juergen’s accomplishments, in 2007 the Government of Canada appointed Juergen as chairman of Sustainable Development Technology Canada, SDTC. SDTC is a foundation created by the Government to support development of innovative technological solutions for issues such as climate change, air quality, clean water, and clean soil. In terms of budget, SDTC is the largest such organization in the world.

Alan Bryce, Director of Communications

Alan has 20 years of experience in the communications field, as director of a communications firm, SAI, the English-language voice of Honda Motor, and as a web content writer, copywriter, scriptwriter, and speechwriter for a broad range of major corporations in Japan. As director of communications at BC Wind, Alan is applying the skills honed in these endeavors to create for BC Wind a clear and consistent message about the virtues of Blue Fuel and the outstanding opportunity that it represents for the company and the people of British Columbia and beyond.

Dr. Ron Britton, Consultant (Xroads Consulting)

Ron is an internationally seasoned executive with a strong technology background who, over the last 30 years, has lived and worked in a variety of countries. He has, for example served as senior vice president of Emerging Energy Applications at Methanex (the world’s leading methanol producer), where he was responsible for global implementation of the company’s growth strategy based on the development of new synthesis gas technology. He has also been president and CEO of Fuel Cells Canada, a not-for-profit corporation with a mandate to accelerate the development and commercialization of the Canadian fuel cell industry on behalf of its members. Currently, Ron is president of Xroads Consulting, which advises clients across a broad base of alternative energy technologies.

Dr. Bill de Waal, Consultant (Trojan Technologies)

Bill has spent two-thirds of his career in the chemical industry and the rest in the environmental equipment business. He started in R&D before moving into business management. He has worked at both start-ups and in multinationals, such as Bayer, where he was director of the corporation’s EPDM business. In recent years his main activity has been exploring innovative water treatment technologies for Trojan Technologies, expanding their business by 35% by introducing new technologies into their portfolio.

Claire Butterfield, Youth Ambassador

Claire is a Grade 12 student and Head Girl at Glenlyon Norfolk School, Victoria, British Columbia. She has been involved in the Sierra Youth Coalition's Sustainable High Schools Project, and played a leading role in organizing the 2008 International Round Square Conference, the theme of which was "Creating Sustainable Communities, Local to Global." Claire also attended the Pearson Seminar on Youth Leadership in 2008. At the International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition, 2007, Claire's team placed first. Claire also has a passion for music. She plays several instruments, writes her own music, and is an experienced performer.
